Banks Land is a natural pocosin or sink of ancient geologic origin. The refuge was established in 1985 for the protection and conservation of this unique environment as well as migratory and resident wildlife.
 Laura S. Walker Land is 15 minutes from Millwood Plantation. Located near the northern edge of the mysterious Okefenokee Swamp, this park is home to many fascinating creatures and plants. The park's Land offers opportunities for boating, skiing and fishing and features a championship 18-hole golf course. Laura Walker was a Georgia writer, teacher, civic leader and naturalist.
